A handwritten tag is the small thing that makes a gift feel finished. I designed this sheet of free printable Christmas gift tags in the same cozy colors as the rest of the site: cranberry, pine green, cream, kraft and a touch of gold. There are 12 different tags on one page, each with a little illustration and To and From lines.

I also made a free printable Christmas gift list to go with it, so you can plan, track and check off every gift in one place. Both are instant PDFs.

What is on the gift tag sheet

Each tag is about 2.4 x 2.2 inches with a dotted cut line and a circle that shows where to punch the hole.

How to print gift tags at home

  1. Use cardstock. White matte cardstock (65 to 110 lb) feels like a real tag. Regular paper works in a pinch; glue it to a kraft scrap for extra strength.
  2. Print at actual size. In the print dialog choose "Actual size" or 100% scale, not "Fit to page."
  3. Pick the best quality setting. The colors print richer, especially the pine green and cranberry.
  4. Let the ink dry for a few minutes before cutting.
  5. Cut on the dotted line with scissors or a paper trimmer. A paper trimmer makes the straight edges quick.
  6. Punch the hole on the gold circle with a standard hole punch.
  7. Tie with twine or ribbon. Red and white baker's twine looks lovely with kraft paper.

Printing at a store? Save the PDF to your phone and print it on cardstock at an office supply or photo counter. Ask for no scaling.

How to use the Christmas gift list

Page one is your main list: write each person's name, a gift idea and the budget, then fill in what you spent and check off bought, wrapped and given. The boxes at the top hold your total budget, spent so far and a shop-by date. Page two covers stocking stuffers and extras, gift ideas you overheard, and a wrapping and card supplies checklist.
